Methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) is a clear, colorless organic liquid compound. MIBK is used as a chemical intermediate, a solvent for manufacturing paints, rubbers, other chemicals, and industrial cleaners. It is used in the semiconductor industry. MIBK is very efficient at dissolving resins used in paints, inks, lacquers, and other types of surface coatings. MIBK is classified as a flammable liquid, can cause serious eye irritation, and is harmful if inhaled. Keep the material away from heat sources, hot surfaces, open flames, and sparks. Use only in a well ventilated area.
